On August 30, members of the Desert WAVE team joined a virtual platform for the prestigious 23rd International RoboSub Competition. This year, the Arizona State University and Si Se Puede Foundation's all-female underwater robotics team showcased their hard work and innovation by securing an impressive second place overall, earning a prize of $3,800. Competing against 33 teams from nine different countries, Desert WAVE improved upon their third-place finish from the previous year’s competition. This achievement isn’t just a win; it shows the power of determination and collaboration.
The team enjoyed more than just an overall impressive placement. They also earned second place for their website, third for their technical report, and fourth for their promotional video. These specific accomplishments reveal the diverse skills in play. Daniel Frank, faculty advisor and lecturer at The Polytechnic School of ASU, expressed his pride: “Whether they compete in-person or virtually, the students of Desert WAVE always bring their best. I am very proud of their achievements over the past two years and excited to continue working with them to prepare for the next RoboSub competition.”
